Annie TUrner

Annie is a contemporary abstract painter and teacher. She is inspired by the landscape around her and tries to capture the ‘feel’ of being within the landscape, rather than just the view. She works with collage, charcoal, acrylics, resin and oil bars and is interested in layers, colour, mark making and texture. Annie often uses symbols from dress making patterns and networks within her paintings which she feels represent the markings on maps and the contours of the landscape. The paintings take months to resolve and go through a roller coaster ride of various stages where they are disliked before something ‘clicks’ and they come out the other side. Annie also teaches mark making, abstract painting and print making. She has a great deal of experience with many types of groups, encouraging people to develop a looser way to represent the landscape around them.
