Experimental Screen printing with Bronte Teal

  • 61A Humber Street Humber Street Hull, England, HU1 1TU United Kingdom (map)

New to screen printing? Or already familiar with the process but would like to learn new techniques? This workshop supports artists at all stages of their screen printing career. Whether you’re wanting to learn a new skill/process, or wanting to build on your existing skills, Bronte’s workshop can translate work from any medium into an experimental screen printing process that aims to isolate and examine details of your existing practice. This workshop critically engages you with patterns within pre-existing artworks/objects whose subtleties are often overlooked. Taking the time to examine these sublime details helps draw clarity to our ongoing subconscious research of the ‘why?‘ we choose to make the things we do.

Once booked, the critical thinking begins! You will receive a PDF document via email that walks you through the preparation process for the workshop. It allows for complete freedom or extra support if needed.

What will you learn (includes demonstration and actually doing it):

- Selecting and editing an image ready for exposure.
- Introduction to all the equipment used in the print room.
- Coating the screen with light sensitive emulsion
- Exposing an image into a screen using a UV exposure unit
- Prepping screen for printing (washing out emulsion, applying tape and drying of the screen)
- Registration process
- Mixing of colours and colour selection.
- Printing on fabric surfaces and paper, learning Bronte’s technique during the process.
- Stripping of the screen

Approximately 10-15 outcomes can be made (may be more for experienced printmakers who may be more competent with the prep process)

Tickets: £75 from Brontes website via the link below
