Life Drawing (Evening - Model Swap)
What: This is a unique event where all attendees will show up to draw from life (as usual), but there is a twist: everyone who participates in this event will spend 20-30 minutes of the session modelling nude for the group. There will be a randomised running order (usually drawing numbers out of a hat/mug) and then we can determine how many poses you will do for your time-slot. Experienced models may be asked to do longer/shorter poses to create variation on the night.
These sessions run from 6pm-9pm. Please arrive from 5:30pm (5.45pm at the very latest) to get set up so I can let you into the building. We aim to be starting by 6pm on the dot and we plan to go to the pub across the street for a quick drink afterwards (participation optional). It seems only right to have a de-brief together after de-briefing in front of each other.

Charcoal Drawing With Esther Cawley
Tuesday 20th October 6-8.30pm
Come along and hone your drawing skills with demonstrations and support from Juice studio-holder, Esther Cawley.
You will be shown how to translate 3D objects into 2D charcoal drawings, considering form, shape, negative spaces and tone using different techniques.
You are encouraged to bring a small collection of objects with you (3 or 4). Esther will also provide a variety for you to choose from, if you prefer. Organic objects such as fruit, flowers, shells etc make interesting motifs, as well as man-made, such as bottles, metal, cups and crockery, anything which interests you... (you might wish to combine the two types).
This workshop suits all levels of experience, including those new to drawing / working with charcoal.
All materials are provided and we will have a break mid-way so you can have a chat to other participants and share any of your thoughts.
Support will be provided throughout the workshop.
Introduction to Cyanotype with Half Frame Full Flavour
Saturday 24th October 2-4pm
Discover the magic of cyanotype and explore this historical photographic method. Join us as we take you through the process of coating sheets for exposure and creating your own botanical prints to take home, along with supplies to keep experimenting at home.
You are welcome to bring your own materials to expose with, as long as they fit within the parameters of A4 and are clean and dry.
All materials and refreshments will be provided.

Mini Rug Tufting with Tufting Eck
Saturday 7th November 1pm-4.30pm
Discover the joy of tufting in this hands‑on creative experience! Our Little Tuft Workshop is perfect for solo crafters, friends, couples, and anyone who wants to make a personalised mini rug to take home - ideal as a wall hanging, coaster, tote bag or bold cushion panel. You don’t need any experience, just bring your creativity and enthusiasm! It's perfect if you want to dip your toes into rug-making without committing to a big project.
This workshop is suitable for ages 14+ (under‑18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult).

Picturing Framing Masterclass with The Yorkshire Framer
Saturday 28th November 10-1pm
Learn the basic principles of picture framing with Joe, the Yorkshire Framer.
This workshop will teach you how to present your artwork, with a focus on correctly mounting paper work as well as how to customise without causing problems.
By the end of the session you will take home a completed frame and the knowledge and skills to produce more at home!
The session will involve:
Drawing two artworks on A4 paper
An introduction to the basics of picture framing.
Measuring your mounts for existing frames- proportions and scale.
How to safely mount paper artwork in a mountboard
How to ‘float mount’ paper artwork on a mountboard
Decorating frames and mountboards to help emphasise elements of the artwork.
Piecing a frame together, proper techniques and cleaning.
Closing the frame, taping the back, how to choose which hanging hardware
Ending with a Q and A discussion
Participants must be over 16 and have good eyesight and hand dexterity.
Please don’t bring existing artwork to frame as the session timings don’t allow for custom mounting and adjustments. On completion of the workshop you’ll have all the skills needed to produce your own frames at home!

Beginners Bobbin Lacemaking with Dr Catherine Lillie
Wednesday 2nd December 7-9pm
Join us for a friendly bobbin lacemaking workshop, suitable for complete beginners as well as those with some lacemaking experience. Guided by an experienced tutor, you will learn traditional techniques and create a festive lace decoration to take home.
Beginners will be introduced to the essential skills of bobbin lace, while more experienced lacemakers can enjoy working on a seasonal project.
As well as enjoying a relaxing and rewarding craft, you’ll be helping to celebrate and keep alive a craft that is now recognised as endangered on the Heritage Crafts Red List (2025).

Library Lino Stamps with John Dearing and Cuppa Kindness
Tuesday 8th December 6.30-8.30pm
A mindful, bookish workshop to create a personalised Library stamp.
Add a dash of whimsy to your book collection with your own hand crafted linocut library book stamp. You'll learn basic linocut skills and put together your own design, drink bottomless Cuppa Kindness tea.
You will also be gifted a reading journal notebook to take home, and an inkpad for your newly created stamp. All materials provided.

2027 Vision: Tea and Affirmations with Cuppa Kindness
Monday 18th January 6.30-8.30pm
A mindful workshop where vision boards meet Junk Journaling, focused on creating a personalised set of 12 affirmation cards.
Create one affirmation card for each month of the year, personalised for your own needs, aspirations or goals. Crafted together with like minded folk at the beginning of the year, with a Mindfulness meditation at the beginning to set the tone, followed by cosy affirmation card crafting and unlimited Cuppa Kindness tea.

Miniature Sculpture Workshop
Saturday 30th January 10-12.30
Join ceramic artist Zivarna Murphy and create your own clay miniature sculpture inspired by Henry Moore, the Yorkshire landscape, and the natural forms and textures of rocks, fossils and shells.
Techniques will be demonstrated but you will be invited to follow your instincts and enjoy playing with the clay to see where it will lead you.
We will be using natural texture tools such as shells, rocks and fossils collected along the Yorkshire coastline to help us form our sculptures.
No previous experience with clay needed!
All materials and firing included although if you'd like to bring your own natural texture tools like shells, rocks, fossils, fabric etc. then you are more than welcome to.

TALK: De-mystifying Social Media for Artists with Budleiaaa
Tuesday 16th February 6-8pm
This informal talk led by Rosie Collins (@budleiaaa) touches on how to use social media to grow your art business, diversify income streams, and game the systems in place to get the best results.
The talk runs for approximately 1 hour, followed by an hour of completely optional, informal networking. Stay and chat with fellow creatives whilst the new ideas from Rosies talk are brewing in your head!
Topics include: Utilising basic algorithm tricks while staying true to yourself, making passive income from social media, running community-based online events and challenges, navigating brand collaborations, making short-form content such as Reels and Tiktoks, and conversely - how to avoid ever making short-form content and still succeed for those who can’t think of anything worse!

Fancy making some video art? What even is video art?
Over a couple of sessions, this workshop will cover a brief introduction to video art, how it came to exist, the importance of it as a medium, and where it fits into our future as moving image, technology and digital art develops.
We'll use our new knowledge to storyboard an idea and create our very own piece of video art! This will be a comfortable, creative space to share diverse ideas with the opportunity to turn them into something fun and unique using a powerful medium.

Bobbin Lacemaking with Catherine Lillie

At this workshop you will learn traditional lacemaking techniques and create a beautiful lace motif.
Suitable for complete beginners and those with some lacemaking experience, you will be guided by an experienced tutor through the basic skills of bobbin lace, while more experienced lacemakers can refine their technique and enjoy working on a small project.
Take time away to learn, relax and be mindfully absorbed in a creative activity while supporting a traditional heritage craft that is currently endangered in the UK.

You are welcome to bring a portable easel if you wish and/or paints for this session. I advise bringing your own art supplies as non-will be provided. We do have drawing boards available in the workshop room.
When: This event will run for 3 hours, once a month -on the penultimate or final Friday of each month (room availability dependant).

Life Drawing (Evening) - Model Swap Night
What: This is a unique event where all attendees will show up to draw from life (as usual), but there is a twist: everyone who participates in this event will spend 20-30 minutes of the session modelling nude for the group. There will be a randomised running order (usually drawing numbers out of a hat/mug) and then we can determine how many poses you will do for your time-slot. Experienced models may be asked to do longer/shorter poses to create variation on the night.
There are only 6 tickets available for these sessions and they always sell out fast. Great for new & experienced models to draw other models and practice new poses in a slightly more casual setting but mostly it's a bit of fun. All body types welcome. All artistic abilities welcome.

What: a monthly, self-guided life drawing session for people wanting to practise their figurative art skills. During these sessions the poses range from 2 minute, dynamic warm-up poses all the way up to 45 minute seated/reclining positions over a 3 hour life drawing session. You are welcome to bring a portable easel if you wish and/or paints for this session. I advise bringing your own art supplies as non-will be provided. We do have drawing boards available in the workshop room.

Whether you’re a fellow creative, or just curious about what happens behind our doors this is your chance to explore the private workspaces of Hull’s most exciting contemporary artists and makers.
What to Expect
See ‘work in progress’ and discover the tools, sketches, and messy bits that lead to finished masterpieces.
Chat directly with our resident illustrators, painters, printmakers, and designers about their practice.
Many of our artists will have original works, prints, and handmade goods available to purchase directly from their studio.

Beginners Bookbinding Workshop
Join me at Juice Studios in Hull for an evening of making your very own cloth bound book.
During this 2 hour masterclass, you'll be shown a beginner friendly bookbinding technique to stitch up your book by hand.
Then you'll choose from a range of fabrics to cover your book, making it uniquely yours.
By the end of the workshop you'll have a finished A6 hardcover book to take home!
