Miniature Sculpture Workshop
Join ceramic artist Zivarna Murphy and create your own clay miniature sculpture inspired by Henry Moore, the Yorkshire landscape, and the natural forms and textures of rocks, fossils and shells.
Techniques will be demonstrated but you will be invited to follow your instincts and enjoy playing with the clay to see where it will lead you.
We will be using natural texture tools such as shells, rocks and fossils collected along the Yorkshire coastline to help us form our sculptures.
The session will be at Juice Studios on Humber Street which is accessible via stairs or lift with plenty of parking close by.
No previous experience with clay needed!
All materials and firing included although if you'd like to bring your own natural texture tools like shells, rocks, fossils, fabric etc. then you are more than welcome to.

Life Drawing - Metal Night
What: a simple, self guided life drawing session with a fun twist.
On 25th July we're life drawing to metal music 🤘 from Metalica to Nine Inch Nails, System of a Down and more.

For people wanting to practise their figurative art skills while rocking out. We will have an experienced art model posing for the group.

When: We've moved this session to a Saturday by request (so people can take that energy to Spiders metal club after if they wish). Life Drawing (Afternoon)
What: a monthly, self-guided life drawing session for people wanting to practise their figurative art skills. During these sessions the poses range from 2 minute, dynamic warm-up poses all the way up to 45 minute seated/reclining positions over a 3 hour life drawing session. You are welcome to bring a portable easel if you wish and/or paints for this session. I advise bringing your own art supplies as non-will be provided. We do have drawing boards available in the workshop room.
When: This event will run for 3 hours, once a month -on the penultimate or final Friday of each month (room availability dependant).
These Friday afternoon sessions will run from 2pm - 5pm with 2 short 10-15 minute comfort breaks at around 2.50pm and 3.50pm. Though we start drawing at 2pm, it is advised you arrive at/by 1.45pm to set up. I will be able to let participants in from 1.30pm.

Life Drawing (Evening) - Model Swap Night
What: This is a unique event where all attendees will show up to draw from life (as usual), but there is a twist: everyone who participates in this event will spend 20-30 minutes of the session modelling nude for the group. There will be a randomised running order (usually drawing numbers out of a hat/mug) and then we can determine how many poses you will do for your time-slot. Experienced models may be asked to do longer/shorter poses to create variation on the night.
There are only 6 tickets available for these sessions and they always sell out fast. Great for new & experienced models to draw other models and practice new poses in a slightly more casual setting but mostly it's a bit of fun. All body types welcome. All artistic abilities welcome.

Introduction to Screen Printing
9:30 - 13:30 // Saturday June 20th
New to screen printing? Or already familiar with the process but need a refresher? This workshop is the one for you.
What You’ll Learn
This workshop teaches the basics of screen printing using exposed screens with a photo stencil (Note: this doesn't need to be a photograph, it can be an illustration or design.) and printing on paper for creating art prints*.
Screen exposure
You’ll be exposing 1 colour image to screen as this workshops, focuses on getting the technique and process down. You learn how to use UV light and photo-emulsion to 'burn' your artwork directly into the mesh for printing with our large screen exposure unit and dryer.
Registration:
We’ll show you methods for lining up your paper so every print is perfectly centred and while we’ll only print 1 colour -you’ll gain the knowledge and process for for registering multiple colour prints.
Pulling prints:
You'll learn the techniques of balancing pressure and angle to achieve crisp prints on different materials.
Bonus:
You'll go through the basics of screen printing but we'll also show you a few extra techniques you can use and ways the screen printing can be varied for different mediums/situations.
What’s included
It includes all materials needed for printing a short edition of art prints - including paper, stencil materials, tracing paper, medium & ink. However we do recommend bringing any interesting papers/surfaces to print on if you want to get creative. (could be pre-painted backgrounds, collages, old magazines, interesting papers etc).
The workshop counts as a studio induction so you can continue using our print studio after your workshop (pay as you go membership).
Final note on merch/t-shirts:
*while this is a paper based workshop - a lot of the techniques you learn are transferable to other areas of screen printing such as printing merchandise and t-shirts. These have their own specific nuances, so while we won't specifically cover these, you'll get the key skills of creating screens and pulling prints down and we're happy to chat about variations during the workshop.

You don’t need any experience, just bring your creativity and enthusiasm! It's perfect if you want to dip your toes into rug-making without committing to a big project.

We have a rota of experienced art models who come each week to pose for the group. During these sessions the poses range from 2 minute, dynamic warm-up poses all the way up to 40 minute seated/reclining positions. We often start with the shorter poses and work up to longer poses.
When: Regular Thursday evening sessions run from 6:30pm - 8:30pm with a 15 minute comfort break approximately halfway through. Though we start drawing at 6:30pm on the dot, it is advised you arrive at/by 6.15pm to set up.

What to Expect
See ‘work in progress’ and discover the tools, sketches, and messy bits that lead to finished masterpieces.
Chat directly with our resident illustrators, painters, printmakers, and designers about their practice.
Many of our artists will have original works, prints, and handmade goods available to purchase directly from their studio.

Beginners Bookbinding Workshop
Join me at Juice Studios in Hull for an evening of making your very own cloth bound book.
During this 2 hour masterclass, you'll be shown a beginner friendly bookbinding technique to stitch up your book by hand.
Then you'll choose from a range of fabrics to cover your book, making it uniquely yours.
By the end of the workshop you'll have a finished A6 hardcover book to take home!

Intro to Stop Motion Animation
Are you interested in attending an upcoming animation workshop? -
Intro to stop-motion animation.
During the workshop you will learn the fundamentals of animation theory, planning, the setup, and how to start animating. Additionally you will receive an export of your saved work and extra resources after completing the workshop.
The workshop is aimed at those wanting an introduction to the craft and how to start animating. Although all experience levels are welcome, including beginners.
In the near future we will be organising intermediate and advanced workshops for people wanting to develop their animation skills.
